Agenda Item: Strengthting Freedom of Speech Through Legal Freameworks

​The ability to express thoughts and ideas, hear others' perspectives, and evaluate them carries significant benefits for individuals. This exchange of ideas is fundamental for personal growth, social interaction, and knowledge acquisition.  
These benefits are so vital that imposing strict limitations on communication is challenging. Such restrictions may impede the free flow of information and hinder both personal and societal growth. Thus, freedom of speech is essential for the development of dynamic and democratic societies, as it empowers individuals to foster innovation.  
However, the right to freedom of speech is not without complexities and challenges. Balancing this freedom with other societal needs, such as maintaining public order, safeguarding national security, and preventing hate speech, is a delicate task for legal systems worldwide.  
Over three days, participants will discuss Strengthting ‘Freedom of Speech Through Legal Freameworks’ in line with their policies and work toward drafting a resolution paper with a common solution.
